Marriage and Family Therapy

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you have a sliding fee scale?   No, I don’t. In very special circumstances I have been able to provide a professional discount when the need is extreme or when a church is assisting with payment. However, all initial sessions are charged at the full rate, unless prior arrangements have been made.

What is your level of education?   I have a Master of Arts (MA) degree in counseling from the University of Nevada, Reno. I have also attended numerous continuing education workshops over the span of my career.

Are you licensed in Nevada?   Yes. I am licensed and regulated by the Nevada State Board of Examiners for Marriage and Family Therapists and Clinical Professional Counselors. My License number is 0786.

Are you a member of any professional organizations?   Yes. I am a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT).  I am also a Clinical Member of the Nevada Division of the AAMFT, the NAMFT.

Do you work with court-ordered clients? No, it has been my experience that interacting with the courts is so time-consuming it subtracts from providing quality services for my other clients.

Do you do custody evaluations? No, I want to help restore relationships and I do not wish to participate in the conflicted court process.

Do you treat eating disorders? No, I am not trained or experienced with this type of problem. However, we have a therapist in our office who can help you.

Do you work with victims of crime? Yes. I can accept payment from both the Nevada State Victims of Crime Program and the Washoe County District Attorney’s Office.

Are you an EAP provider? If you would like to see me under your employer’s EAP program, ask your HR representative if your EAP provider might contact me for contracted services. Many EAP providers are happy to provide this service for the employees of your company, agency or organization.

What if I feel uncomfortable with a Christian counselor?   I'm a professional counselor, and this is your time. I believe every person has the right to love, dignity and respect and no one has the right to judge or impose their beliefs upon another person. Your values, your beliefs and your goals are yours and you can count on me to respect and support you 100%.
